> Investigation Reports

We have the authority under the Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) to conduct investigations into any alleged privacy breach by a public body regarding collection, use or disclosure of personal information. Such an investigation can be initiated if we receive a complaint or the Commissioner can independently initiate an investigation after becoming aware of an apparent breach of the law or of a practice, policy or procedure of concern.

The outcomes of investigations that are of significant public interest, or which could provide guidance to public bodies in order to prevent similar violations, are published in Investigation Reports. This section contains the text of such reports.
